Named Commanders

In Galaxy Online II, there are two types of commanders that can be used to lead your fleets in battle. The first type and most readily available are the Common Commanders. Their weapon and ship specialties are randomly generated, have low base stats, and can be recruited for free using the Recruit Commander option at the Command Center every 3 hours, which can be reduced by upgrading this structure. The second type of commander is the Named Commander. They are purchased from the Command Center using the Draw Commander Card option in the form of a usable card. A random named commander is acquired at the time of purchase. Since they are unique, only one named commander can be used and be in play at a time. Also, as opposed to common commanders, their starting stats and specialties are always the same and are generally higher in value, but their stats gains will vary just like the stat gains of common commanders. Each named commander also has a unique ability that can activate during battle. The named commanders are further broken down into three classes based on the strength of their ability. Legendary Commanders are the rarest and have the best abilities and stat gains. Super Commanders are an intermediate class with higher than average stat gains. Spell Commanders are the lowest of the named commanders with stat gains about the same as a common commander. Every named commander also has a level, which is indicated by their star rating. Each star increases the commander's stat gain and the number of ships that they can command in a single stack (the default for level 1 is 1000). The level or star rank of a named commander can be increased by combining two identical cards or by combining three cards of the same class (legendary, super, and spell) and star rank. Common commanders cannot be combined and will always have no stars or levels. Identical cards needed are as follows and each non identical merge adds additional cards needed"

Effective Number of Ships

Any stack in a fleet may contain 3000 ships. However, each commander can only control a certain number of ships of each type in any given stack. This is called the Effective Number of ships. If ships more than the commander's effective number are added to a stack, the excess ships will not use their weapons or defensive modules. Only the shields and structures of the excess ships will be taken into account. The base effective number of ships for common commanders are 1100 for frigates, 1000 for cruisers, and 900 for battleships. Named commanders have larger effective numbers of ships and they are based on their star rating and class. Below is a table that illustrates the effective number of ships of each commander class based on their star level. It also lists the min and max stat gains when a commander levels up based on their star level.
